Welcome to Friday Food! A little bit of food for your soul…every Friday. For the next few months we are looking at “Downloads from Heaven”. In these “downloads” we are contemplating what it would be like if we got a message from God (however you understand God). We will be exploring messages from God about pain and suffering and healing and and blessing and love and peace other topics too! When you read these “downloads” you will notice that they are in quotes. This is to help you think from your heart NOT your head. Don’t get caught up in whether or not God, (however you understand God) actually said these things. Just let them speak to your heart. Sunday is the third Sunday in Advent. Advent is a time to anticipate the new things God is doing in our lives and in the world. In this third week in Advent, life is getting pretty hectic for most of us. Here is a download on how to get through all this hectic stuff going on right now. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Here is today’s download.
Be Flexible
When life gets hectic, we often begin to get rigid, making priorities, lists of things to do and rules to follow in an attempt to “be in control”. What if in those busy times God said to you:
“Be flexible. Don’t add things up in rational ways. Let my Spirit blow where it blows. Continue to be open to other opinions and other teachings. In this way your own faith grows. Do not try to contain your faith. Let it grow and expand. Let it taste other traditions. Continue to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. I am intimately and ultimately present in you and in all things. Be still and know me. I love you.”
Today’s Download from Heaven reminds us that when we try to be in control of things, we can often break free by stepping out of the box of what we think we know and explore new things. Have you ever given up a long term belief in order to move ahead in your life? Tell me what it was like in the comments below.
