Church leaders, church board members, and church members are looking for ways to live authentic spiritual lives individually and in community. They are looking for vibrant churches that nurture their spiritual health and offer them opportunities to explore how they can participate in mission and outreach of the church.
Most churches find themselves caught in an ever changing world of religious dogma, changing church polity and struggle to identify their mission in a rapidly changing world. However, it is possible to discern your mission, assess your strengths and build the leadership needed to respond to the many demands of contemporary mission.
Mainline churches find themselves trying to compete with their local mega church in ministry and program. They struggle with dwindling membership, resources of finance and people to help accomplish their mission. Many churches are confused about how to compete with the big mega church and how to get new members to join them in their mission.
The real problem is that many churches are trying to maintain ministry and programs that they can no longer afford or staff. Rather than exploring new ways to move ahead they find themselves trying one new program or ministry after another in hopes of gaining the attention of others who might join them on their journey. Although congregations are readily trying what they consider to be new things they are afraid to look below the surface of program to discern what real possibility there might be for new ministry.
In order to solve this problem churches need to delve deeply into their story, discern their purpose, develop leaders to accomplish that purpose and develop a vision for where that purpose will take them in the future. When that happens, the church is then ready to build a new community to fulfill its purpose.
My work with churches supports you in achieving this. In developing a vibrant church that nurtures spiritual health and offers your congregation opportunities to explore how they can participate in mission and outreach of the church.
