God (however you understand God) loves it when you stop by for a visit. God (however you understand God) loves it when you invite God ( however you understand God) to hang out with you. No strings attached. Just hang out. It makes God (however you understand God) very happy just like you get happy to be in the presence of a good friend or family member. Really….it makes God (however you understand God) happy. You don’t even have to be in a good mood to hang out with God.
God (however you understand God) wants you to know that you are loved. God wants to help you peel back the layers of your life and your psyche that keep you from hanging out with God. Can you believe that God is interested in getting to know you? It’s true. So hang out with God this weekend, this week or right now. Don’t worry about what to say. You wouldn’t worry about what to say to your best friend. In fact, you might just hang out, drink coffee, watch the sunrise or take a hike and never speak a word to each other because you don’t always need words to communicate what’s on your mind. Same with God, no words necessary.
Ponder
Some of us grew up in religious traditions that taught us that God was angry, judgemental and loving. Those three things don’t always go together. As we get older we sometimes have to rethink what we have been told. Many times things like anger and judgment were given priority over love. That was never the intent.
