Welcome to Friday Food! A little bit of food for your soul…every Friday. For the next few months, we are looking at “Downloads from Heaven”. In these “downloads” we are contemplating what it would be like if we got a message from God (however you understand God). We will be exploring messages from God about pain and suffering and healing and blessing and love and peace other topics too! When you read these “downloads” you will notice that they are in quotes. This is to help you think from your heart NOT your head. Don’t get caught up in whether or not God, (however you understand God) actually said these things. Just let them speak to your heart. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Here is today’s download:
Take Your Rest
“Take your rest. This is something you need regularly. So, after a big project or long work, take a break. After the trial and crucifixion, the women rested on the Sabbath even though they had not finished preparing my body for burial. As important as this was, they rested. They rested from the ordeal of it all. They rested before their task was completely done because that is what was commanded and needed. Therefore, make some time to rest along the way. Big rest and little rest are both needed. Little rests of an hour or two here and there and a whole day once a week. Remember to schedule in several days of rest three or four times a year. Take your rest. It is a matter of your health and survival. I love you.”
Ponder
We live in a busy world with many demands. If we do not rest along the way our health suffers, our lives suffer and we become distracted from living our best lives. Even in the Bible story of the trial, death and burial of Jesus (however you understand Jesus) the women rested. Rest keeps us centered and full of energy we need to do what we feel we are called to do. So, don’t forget to take a rest. How do you rest? Let me know in the comments below.
