Remembering Who You Are | Friday Food

Remembering who you are as a spiritual tool during the pandemic, or at any time, is not always easy to do.  There are many opportunities to forget who we are or to be distracted from who we are.

Who We Are

Remembering who you areRemembering who are is not always easy.  There are many voices that want to tell us who we are, parents, children, church, job, government, educational systems,  just to name a few.  But who we are moves and lives and breathes underneath all of those things.   At our core, is a spark that is divine.  We arrived on the planet with this divine spark.  It shows up as peace, joy and love.  It is abundantly visible in young children.

As we get older, this divine spark is covered up with expectations from family and all the things listed above.  In fact, the world often wounds us so severely that our divine spark has difficulty shining.   When our divine spark does not shine, we live lives of blame, judgement, and anger just to name a few.  It is important to remember that we have this divine spark, to nurture it and connect to the divine spark in ourselves and others.  No matter how the world would try to define us, it is important to remember that at our core we are divine.  This is true, whether you believe in such things or not.

Connecting to Who We Are

When we remember who we are, we are able to live our fullest lives.  It is important to remember the divine spark within ourselves and others.  We also have to pay attention to those things in our life that try to cover up our divine spark.  Some things that hide our divine spark are fear and anger.  There are other things such as limiting beliefs that we learned from family of origin, educational systems and religious systems.  These too, must be examined over the course of a lifetime to determine which of these beliefs lead us in a life nurturing direction and which lead us in a life depleting direction.  We also need a daily practice to help us to connect to our divine nature.

Ponder

Are you aware of what keeps you from remembering who you are?  What causes you to be disconnected from your divine spark?  Many of us are not.  It is only after accepting the fact that this divine spark exists within us that we begin to see what is keeping it from shining brightly.  Being connected to our divine spark allows us to live authentically.  If you are interested in developing a practice to live more authentically and connecting to your divine spark, feel free to message me.   Or leave me a note in the comments below.
