Welcome to Friday Food! A little bit of food for your soul…every Friday. For the next few months, we are looking at “Downloads from Heaven”. In these “downloads” we are contemplating what it would be like if we got a message from God (however you understand God). We will be exploring messages from God about pain and suffering and healing and blessing and love and peace other topics too! When you read these “downloads” you will notice that they are in quotes. This is to help you think from your heart NOT your head. Don’t get caught up in whether or not God, (however you understand God) actually said these things. Just let them speak to your heart. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Here is today’s download:
Listen and Be Made New
I have come to make all things new. This is a gradual process for you individually and for the cosmos. Sometimes things move along quickly and sometimes things move more slowly. Therefore, in this respect, listen to me and for me and follow my lead. When it is time to go fast, go fast. When things seem to slow down, wait. However, no matter how it may appear to you, things are exactly as they are supposed to be. I hold the Divine Plan and invite you to participate. In fact, there is a part of the Divine Plan that only you can fulfill. Therefore, your participation in this plan will change you in ways that you and I desire. It will also change the cosmos. Listen and be made new.
Some of us were taught that God (however you understand God) had a plan for our lives. However, few of us were told how to participate in that plan or what the result of our participation might be. We were probably also taught that we were to seek that plan “with all our heart.” So, how do you seek to be a part of the Divine Plan? How are you changed as a result of that participation? Would love to know your experiences. Feel free to share them in the comments below.
I like to think of my life as cross-shaped. I have the vertical relationship with God and the horizontal relationship with others. I know if one is out of alignment the other will be too. So I watch for that. I also think about the famous prayer of Thomas Merton that mirrors how I feel most of the time. I intentions are more or less to be faithful, and though I might stray I believe that God takes joy in the fact that I am truly seeking to live out my purpose. I try to stay open to course correction which comes in a myriad of ways. The bottom line is that it isn’t simple – but it is a lifelong goal. God blessings on your way.
Thank you Rebecca. It is true God does not expect us to go it alone and without our relationship with other/community, we are incomplete. This is what it means to love God, self, and neighbor. All three are needed.
