Welcome to Friday Food! A little bit of food for your soul…every Friday. For the next few months, we are looking at “Downloads from Heaven”. In these “downloads” we are contemplating what it would be like if we got a message from God (however you understand God). We will be exploring messages from God about pain and suffering and healing and blessing and love and peace other topics too! When you read these “downloads” you will notice that they are in quotes. This is to help you think from your heart NOT your head. Don’t get caught up in whether or not God, (however you understand God) actually said these things. Just let them speak to your heart. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Here is today’s download:
In Distress Be Calm
“In your distress, be calm. Do what you know to do. Stick to the routine and you will receive comfort. In your comfort, you will discern what to do next. Watch and wait until you know what to do. Take small steps of obedience and it will lead to new life. I am with you and will be with you along the way. Each step I will take with you and will help you. Look for those who will help you. I will send them to you. Do not be surprised if they seem different from you at first. I will open your eyes and your heart to the newness of life. Be still, be silent, be small, wait for me. I am very near. I bring redemption, healing, and joy.”
Some times in our distress we get carried away with problem solving. If the answer to our problem doesn’t show up soon, this adds to our distress. Often, the best thing to do in our distress is to return to what we know. The more mundane and boring it is the better. As we go about these mundane tasks, often the next step in solving our problem is revealed. Perhaps not the whole solution to our problem but the next step and usually that is enough to relieve our distress for the moment. In stressful times, what do you do to remain calm? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
