Welcome to Friday Food! A little bit of food for your soul…every Friday. For the next few months, we are looking at “Downloads from Heaven”. In these “downloads” we are contemplating what it would be like if we got a message from God (however you understand God). We will be exploring messages from God about pain and suffering and healing and blessing and love and peace other topics too! When you read these “downloads” you will notice that they are in quotes. This is to help you think from your heart NOT your head. Don’t get caught up in whether or not God, (however you understand God) actually said these things. Just let them speak to your heart. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Here is today’s download:
The Wisdom of Your Heart
“Don’t worry so much about the rules of religion. The rules are good for a start but when doubts arise about the rules you may also seek the wisdom of your own heart which is the wisdom that I give you and which the world cannot take away. This wisdom is in you and in everyone who seeks it. The rules of religion are only the gateway to faith and belief. You can decide which of the rules lead you on a life-nurturing path and which lead you on a life depleting path. Wisdom is found on the life-nurturing path. Don’t be afraid to leave behind limiting beliefs, guilt, shame, and other things that do not nurture your spirit. Take up love and forgiveness. The life-nurturing path is found in your own wisdom. Don’t be afraid to use it. I love you.”
Ponder
I grew up in a religious tradition with a lot of rules. The intention of the rules was to save me and teach me the right way. However, at some point, questions begin to rise up within me because the answers I received from the religious institution didn’t really match up with what I was hearing in my heart. It took me a while, and sometimes I still struggle with knowing my own wisdom. So, one of the things I try to do is to decide which of things the “institution” had taught me were non-negotiable or were stifling to my spiritual growth and then let them go. In order for us to live into the fullness of our spiritual nature, we have to connect to the wisdom within. I would love to know how you connect to that divine wisdom within you. Let me know in the comments below.
