Welcome to Friday Food! A little bit of food for your soul…every Friday. For the next few months, we are looking at “Downloads from Heaven”. In these “downloads” we are contemplating what it would be like if we got a message from God (however you understand God). We will be exploring messages from God about pain and suffering and healing and blessing and love and peace other topics too! When you read these “downloads” you will notice that they are in quotes. This is to help you think from your heart NOT your head. Don’t get caught up in whether or not God, (however you understand God) actually said these things. Just let them speak to your heart. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Here is today’s download:
Rise Above Contempt
“Rise above contempt. Thank you for all you have endured. Know that I am with you to help you put away the contempt you endure. Breathe peace, take the time to love, forgive so that you may rise above all the contemptuous people and situations. Listen for my love and you will be fine. I am always with you going ahead to prepare the way, supporting you from behind and walking along beside you. Do not fear or be angry when provoked. I am making a path of forgiveness and joy. It may be a difficult path but you do not travel it alone. You have all the resources of my love, forgiveness, grace, hope and love to help you on your way. Rise above contempt. I love you. “
Sometimes we can be overwhelmed by contemptuous words and messages. When someone scorns us or makes us feel that we are worthless because we are different or have opposing views, we have to deal with their anger and criticism. When someone tells us in words or deeds that we are not worthy of consideration we have to endure. In these situations, we have to rise above the moment and reach to our depths for love, healing, forgiveness and find our hope in something bigger than the moment. When we do this, we connect to our divine nature and we are protected from those who try to hurt us. When we do this, we do not lash out or take revenge and this changes us and the world. Rising above contempt is strong medicine for ourselves and the world. And for that God (however you understand God) is exceedingly grateful. Remember that the next time someone tries to provoke you and let me hear how it goes in the comments below.
